Pizza Night!

Had an awesome pizza night with Nona and Bapa. Skyped with Aunt Holly, Uncle Dan, Miles and Riley while Bapa was preparing the meal. Great to catch up with them. :)

Daphne looooved the pizza. It was really good but I surprised by how much she ate. Her little tummy was rock hard by the time we finished.

 Margarita pizza.

And a delicious steak and caramelized onion pizza. D only ate the margarita pizza but took a good solid look at this one.

Daphne stayed with Nona and Bapa Saturday night so it was great to share a glass of wine and a slice of pizza with them after she came home.

Enjoying the Warm Days

Daphne has really been enjoying the warm weather, as have I. Its nice to have all the windows open, eat a little lighter and wear a lot less clothes.

One of Daphne's favorite brunches. Keeps her full for the inevitable play time at the park.

I usually try to get her out in the morning after her first nap. She's full, in a great mood, and it's not so hot yet my thighs stick together yet...so we both enjoy it.

She loves the swings, the slides, crawling full speed across the field and of course eating the sand. Healthy.

All that fresh air really did her in...

So we tucked her into bed and made a spicy sausage/feta/red onion pizza to share. :)

Kinda hot to have the oven on but I must confess we ate this around 9pm so it had cooled down substantially. Also, pizza is always worth the heat.

This week on Instagram Will and I had a baby free weekend practicing golf and having a long long breakfast, I was attacked by the cutest baby ever.
D experienced a thunderstorm  and ate a bunch of blueberries (LOVED THEM)

Friday with the Fam

Took me a whole week to get to this post. Daphne really doesn't seem to care about the blog...humph.

Had my parents over last Friday for a visit with D and dinner.

There is a restaurant in the states called Chipotle which I hear a lot of people are totally obsessed with. One of the dishes on there menus is called a Chipotle Bowl (I think...) which is basically a taco on rice...so I decided to recreate it. Kind of.

I used that idea and made it my way. With slow cooked pulled pork, coconut lime rice and lots of fresh veggies. Sriracha for kick and a yogurt/chili powder/garlic sauce to top. Everyone seemed to like it. Especially the yogurt sauce...which was the easiest part but I also think the dish would have been lost without it.

For dessert ma brought angel food cake, strawberries and cream. Yum.

My dad had spent about an hour that afternoon cleaning my backyard up for me and Daphne had a good 30 minutes in her pool. She passed out quick and we gobbled this up real fast.

I'm having my friend, her boyfriend and their daughter over next weekend and I think I will make these again. Quick, yummy, they will feed a crowd, and I don't have to have the oven on. Thank god for slow cookers.

Lamb Koftas

Another Indian dish I have taken to attempting is koftas. I’m not exactly sure where I saw this recipe…probably on Food Network and I tweaked it so it worked for me.When I’ve made this for a crowd I used ground beef (cause it’s cheaper) but for just Will and I we prefer lamb.

I start by cooking red lentils on the stove with water, turmeric and curry powder.

Add them to the ground lamb with salt, pepper and garam masala and mush together with your hands. Then squeeze them into these knobbly football shapes and bake in the oven.

The knobbly shapes gives the opportunity for lots of dark yummy edges.

The sauce is 4 tomatoes, half an onion, half a red chilli, garlic, ginger, curry powder, garam masala and salt blended until smooth. Heat up over a low heat. This makes enough for 2 dinners so I freeze half and use it the next week.

Add the lamb to the sauce and give them a few minutes to let them get to know each other.

Serve with rice and/or naan. Top with a dollop of plain yogurt.

It gives me heart burn but it's so worth it!

Vacation in Domi and Illness

Oh hello, strangers.

It's been two weeks since we've been home from vacation and you may or may not have noticed that neither of us have posted about it yet.

Well the day we got home I got horribly sick and my mom followed suit three days later. We are still recovering...what a doozey it was.

In the interest of getting a post up I'm gonna post quickly without much commentary. The pictures really speak for themselves. It was a terrific time!

Another Day Another Daphne

It seems every day she wakes up bigger, with more hair and ready to show off another new and exciting skill.

I was sitting at our dining table writing a list when I looked down and Daphne was standing holding onto a chair.

Standing! Pleased as punch!

Glad we got our front gate up already. Now that she's crawling AND pulling up she can't be stopped!

I didn't manage to catch her standing all the way up, but trust me! She can!

Once she's pulled up she's taken a liking to letting go and seeing how long she can stand unassisted. Each time is a little longer.

It's hard to believe that my little bald 7 pound newborn will one day let go of that chair and charge feet first into the world.

I love every minute of it....except at 3am...I don't love that.

Ready for Sunshine!!!

I think we're all ready for a little bit of sun and heat. Especially in the area we live in here at P&PD.

We may or may not be getting ready to take a wee vacay to somewhere sunny. And someone I know has been super spoiled by Nona and Bapa and is now SUPER DUPER prepared for vacay AND summer!

Yup, you guessed it. It was not I who was spoiled.
Why can't adult clothes come in easy to buy sizes like 29-31 adult??

She got shorts, dresses, bathing suits, onesies, pants and tops! I had laundry to do anyway so I layed all her new stuff out (what a haul, eh) to take all the tags off and D decided she needed to inspect everything.

And boy did she. I think everything got the seal/stamp/drool of approval!

My favorite purchase by Nona! This is from Joe Fresh and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen!! I'm not a fan of those super pink and girly bathing suits nor do I like the idea of her wearing a two piece. And gah, shes so cute in it! All those leg rolls!!!

Nona also got some sunscreen for her! Gotta protect that delicate skin.

Daphne approves of this only as a chew toy.

She also got a super cute little sun hat. Can't be too careful with a baby in the sun. Especially by the water...we may or may not be close to water soon.

See? It covers her whole face. No sun can get her!!!

And this amazing headband that matched one of the dresses she got. But let's be honest, what DOESN'T this go with. Exactly.

She played with the clothes for almost 40 minutes.

Apparently it was hard work!

"Is it my turn?"

Yes of course, MacGuffin...it's always your turn.
